Amidst the controversy surrounding the rebounding market in recent weeks, Browns Star Nick Chubb weighed in and offered his insight on why he thinks players at his position aren’t getting paid what they’re worth.
“They say we get hit every game and we’re more prone to injuries and we’re all on the field doing the same thing,” Chubb told reporters Sunday. “But only this counts for us. If we are risking doing more, then we should be valued more.”
Chubb also confirmed that he was on a Zoom Saturday with other elite players in the NFL and they discussed what’s best to do about their position going forward when it comes to getting what they’re worth. The backs began to organize the call as soon as it became clear that Raiders running back Josh Jacobs and giants Saquon Barkley wasn’t getting the extensions they wanted.

He mentioned that Christian McCaffrey and Derrick Henry were also on call and explained why teams underestimate them.
“The biggest thing is that we are the only position that. . . our production hurts us the most,” Chubb said. “If we go out there and run for 2,000 yards with that many carries, then next year they’re going to say, ‘You must be tired.’ That’s the biggest thing I got from her.”

Chubb has one year left on his current deal and admitted he could be in the same position next year as his peers.
“It’s easy for me to say it’s not a big deal, but, you know, next year it could be me,” he said.
