Japanese Pacific LCQ competitor ZETA DIVISION has won the Grand Final match, securing their ticket to Champions 2023
ZETA DIVISION, Japan’s strongest VCT contender, has won the Pacific region’s Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) event, allowing them a spot at the upcoming 2023 Championship in Los Angeles, California. As a result, this year will be ZETA’s second appearance at a Champions event, having previously participated in one in 2022.

ZETA DIVISION Keeps the secret
Team Secret, the Filipino Dark Horse, was the last contender on the way to ZETA’s ticket to the Champions, an opponent they have already faced at the event, defeating them 2-0 in the top final. Team Secret emerged from the bottom final with a 3-1 win against Gen.G, and securing another Bo5 was their chance to be crushed by the Japanese roster.

The series began on Fracture, a map that Team Secret had barely played in their last few games, and ended with a very close 14-12 in ZETA’s favor, with Shota “SugarZ3ro” Watanabe leading the charge with a 23-16 KD and 254 ACS on Brimstone.

ZETA’s loss to Ascent was an expected result, given Team Secret’s recent 100% win rate on the map.

Split was another map where Team Secret found themselves weak in previous encounters, and ZETA took full advantage of this, with Yuma “Dep” Hashimoto’s 261 ACS and 19-11 KD performance securing a convincing 13-7 victory.
A very one-sided map in Split thanks to ZETA’s amazing defense #LCQPacific pic.twitter.com/uiOzB1IyKG

Lotus, a map where these teams were supposed to be evenly matched given their winning records in previous games, was another one-sided affair favoring the Japanese. Koji “Laz” Ushida owned the server on this map with his Chamber pick, securing 22-8 KD and 292 ACS and leading his team to a 13-6 victory.
